Position Title
Chief Administrative Officer
I have over 20 years of experience in operations and corporate finance working for The University of California, The Walt Disney Company, and Sun Microsystems / Oracle. I've worked on numerous multimillion- and multibillion-dollar projects and led operations across a wide range of industries, including higher education, entertainment, resorts, and technology.
I have a strong professional interest in organizational behavior, particularly in how information flows within organizations and how individuals receive and interpret it. I am fascinated by the ways the same message can be understood differently by different people, highlighting the potential for miscommunication. This interest extends to the nuances of communication, as subtle differences in tone, word choice, or context can significantly affect understanding. I’m also intrigued by how language translation plays a role in these dynamics, especially the concept of being "lost in translation," where meaning and intent can shift across languages and cultural contexts. I believe it is crucial to confirm that the intent of communication is clearly understood and to quickly identify and correct misunderstandings to ensure alignment and effective collaboration.
On a personal level, I am passionate about music and play the piano and guitar daily, no matter how busy I am; I feel that music instantly transcends language, creating connections that words often cannot. I read obsessively and have curated a personal library filled with works from long out-of-print and forgotten authors, many of whom I believe are ripe for rediscovery. Living near the Sierra Nevada, I am drawn to the outdoors and spend a significant amount of time in the mountains; in the winter, I ski regularly, and in the summer, I spend time backpacking and mountaineering in the wilderness. I am also a huge fan of the San Francisco 49ers, Star Wars, Monty Python, and the films of Krzysztof Kieślowski and Stanley Kubrick.
